Outbreak appears to have begun in 2016. Listeria samples from ill people were collected from November 23, 2016 to December 13, 2019. Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development collected mushrooms for testing from a grocery store where an ill person purchased enoki mushrooms.

CDC: Ongoing Outbreak Investigations – Salmonella, Listeria and E. coli

CDC and FDA recommend that you not eat, sell, or serve fresh whole red, white, or yellow onions distributed by ProSource Produce LLC or Keeler Family Farms that were imported from the State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Illnesses started on dates ranging from July 26, 2016 through October 19, 2021. All 10 people have been hospitalized.
