The World’s Largest and Deadliest Listeria Outbreak is turning 4 in March

In 2017 and 2018, the world’s largest and deadliest outbreak of listeriosis occurred in multiple provinces of South Africa, as seen in Figure 1. A total of 1,060 cases were reported during the outbreak period of January 11, 2017, to July 17, 2018 (Figure 2). The food history interviews were completed by November 1, 2017.
