The exposure locations were “nursinghome, assisted living, home care” or restaurant. The vehicle of infection was cantaloupe. There were 17 hospitalizations and no deaths.
More information has come to light about a deadly outbreak of Salmonella in Spain in 2022. The outbreak occurred at the Geriàtric Aragó care home in Barcelona. According to officials, it started in July 2022 and affected 39 residents, of which 15 were hospitalized and eight died.
The recent report covers findings from 39 respondents within National Health Service (NHS) Trusts and 445 from Health and Social Care (non-NHS Trust) settings, such as nursinghomes, home care service providers and hospices, in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Fieldwork took place in August and September 2022.
