Nationwide Cyclospora Outbreak hits 2,272 with no source identified

As of October 24, 2023, 41 jurisdictions, including 40 states and New York City, have reported a total of 2,272 laboratory-confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis. These individuals had not traveled outside of the United States during the 14 days before they got sick. This is an increase of 315 cases since the last update on August 31, 2023. Sick people ranged in age from 2 to 96 years, with a median age of 51, and 57% were female.

Tyson recalls chicken nuggets after consumer complaints of metal pieces in product

Following consumer complaints, Tyson Foods Inc. of Berryville, AR, is recalling 29,819 pounds of fully cooked, breaded, shaped chicken patty product that may be contaminated with metal pieces, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The frozen dinosaur shaped “Fun Nuggets” were produced on Sept. 5, 2023.

More children’s applesauce products recalled after additional illnesses discovered

At least 35 people confirmed sick in E. coli outbreak linked to San Diego restaurant

The patient count from E. coli infections associated with a San Diego restaurant has risen to 35, according to county health officials At least 10 of the patients, including four children, have required hospitalization after eating at Miguel’s Cocina in San Diego’s 4S Ranch neighborhood.
