Hardest hit are children under 5 and adults over 65. Trufresh began this recall after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) determined that Malichita cantaloupes have possible Salmonella contamination.

This time, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture executed a duly issued search warrant on Amos Miller and Miller’s Organic Farm. The state’s responsibility was to determine if raw eggnog and other unpasteurized, raw dairy products produced by Miller were responsible for positive Shiga toxin-producing E. Coli tests in Michigan and New York, causing human illnesses.

High Levels of Toxic Plasticizers Phthalates, Bisphenols Found in Nearly All Foods in U.S.

Recent testing for phthalates and bisphenols like BPA in foods found all but one sample to contain phthalates and 79 percent of samples to contain bisphenols. As of January 3, 2024, 24 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 14 states – Arizona 1, Connecticut 1, Illinois 1, Michigan 1, Minnesota 1, Nebraska 1, New Jersey 1, New York 1, Ohio 11, Texas 1, Utah 1, Vermont 1, Washington 1, Wisconsin 1. Illnesses started on dates ranging from November 20, 2023, to December 18, 2023.

Ground beef recalled for E. coli O157:H7

Public health officials in Minnesota are warning the public to not eat Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler that contain prosciutto, sweet sopressata, and dry coppa because of Salmonella contamination. The implicated sampler products were sold at Sam’s Club locations. The investigation is ongoing. No photos of the implicated products were available at the time of the posting of the public warning.

FDA finds high levels of chromium in applesauce traced to lead poisoning outbreak

In addition to extremely high levels of lead, the FDA has found elevated levels of chromium in cinnamon applesauce products marketed for children. The applesauce in question was manufactured by the Ecuadoran company Austrofoods and marked in the United States under the brands Wanabana, Schnucks and Weis. All of the implicated cinnamon applesauce, which was sold in pouches, has been recalled, but there have been some reports of the Wanabana brand still being on shelves at Dollar Tree stores.

The problem was discovered when FSIS was notified that a sample collected by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture tested positive for Salmonella.
